BRA Day, reconstructing after breast cancer

The Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery unit of the Europe Hospitals is hosting a conference to mark “BRA-day”(Breast Reconstruction Awareness – Day), the day internationally dedicated to breast reconstruction after cancer, on Wednesday the 17th of October, at 7:30pm at the St-Elisabeth site. Patients, relatives, friends, staff members and doctors are cordially invited to attend.

The purpose of BRA-day is to ensure that any patient fighting breast cancer knows that she can be immediately placed in the care of a multidisciplinary team and informed of the different surgical options available to her in terms of breast reconstruction.

The goal of this 5th edition is to provide patients, their relatives and their doctors with a few keys to implement a global approach to the reconstruction process after breast cancer. Breast reconstruction helps many women regain confidence in a new body and find their femininity again. This period can be used to implement and strengthen new behaviours that will improve their quality of life and maybe even reduce the risk of relapse, by developing or increasing physical activities for example.
